Eoin O'Sullivan

founder, MANAGING DIRECTOR AND PSYCHOTHERAPIST

ACCREDITED MEMBER OF IAHIP AND REGISTRANT WITH ICP

My qualification is in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, this means that I am trained as both a counsellor and a psychotherapist. The course I chose, validated by U.C.C. is recognised as meeting the standards of all major professional psychotherapy organisations in Ireland as well as the European Association of PsychotherapyHaving an integrative approach means that I use theory and skills from a number of different therapeutic schools. I have always been interested in people, what motivates them and how their life experiences shape them. Over fifteen years ago I came to a point in my own process when I wanted to understand, more fully, my patterns of behaviour and how my past life experience was shaping how I behaved in the present. This is how my journey into psychotherapy began.

As I explored my own history, with the help of a therapist, I was able to understand and let go of old unconscious patterns that no longer served me. I caught glimpses of a place from where I could make conscious decisions about my life, that took my thoughts and feelings into consideration, that engaged with all the different aspects of  my-self, my centre.

My professional work is aimed towards providing a safe non-judgmental setting in which my clients can begin, or continue, their own journey towards their secure centre.

Counsellor - Psychotherapist

ACCREDITED MEMBER OF IACP

As a counsellor, I am passionate about helping people overcome the challenges they face in their lives. I specialise in a person-centered approach, which emphasizes the importance of creating a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a supportive environment.

With a background in cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), I also assist clients in identifying negative thinking patterns that may be contributing to their problems and teach them new skills to change those patterns.

I believe that truly knowing oneself is the key to making lasting positive change. In my work with clients, I encourage self-reflection and help them identify their strengths and values. I have found that when clients are able to recognize and build on their strengths, they are better equipped to face life’s challenges with confidence.

In addition to my training and experience, I bring a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach to my work with clients. I am committed to helping clients achieve their goals and live healthier, more fulfilling lives.

We all face challenges at various moments in our lifetime. When challenges arise at times of low resilience, they can feel overwhelming. Seeking professional support is a positive step that can help you to find your way through these difficulties. Therapy also provides a space where you can come to deepen your understanding of yourself which in turn can strengthen your relationships and enhance your life experiences.

I offer a warm, respectful and confidential relationship in a safe, professional setting. Within this space, people can explore their anxieties and embark on the journey towards self-awareness. I use a variety of approaches including psychodynamic, person centred, cognitive behavioural and mindfulness, depending on which is most suitable for you at that time.

I believe that every individual has the ability to heal and my role is to facilitate that process by helping you to explore your inner world and make sense of the challenges you are currently faced with.

I am a professionally qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with a first-class honours degree in Holistic Counselling & Psychotherapy. I have been working in private practice for two years. I am a pre accredited member of IACP.

As a qualified therapist, I am not here to fix you. My core belief is that there is nothing wrong with people, although many often feel otherwise.

My philosophy comes from exploring what actually happened in a person’s life that after years of pain and hurt they feel broken. I want to hear your story, how does it feel to be you, in your own words.

I have a BA (Hons) Degree in Holistic Counselling and Psychotherapy and work from the Mind, Body and Soul perspective. I use an integrative approach, so how I will work with you is tailored to your uniqueness and needs at this particular time in your life.

Counselling is a space where I want clients to feel safe and supported, where they can share their thoughts and feelings, at their own pace, without fear of being judged. I believe that deep down people know the answers they’re seeking, and I can help to uncover them from layers of trauma, conditioning and stuck patterns, so they can embark on their healing journey.

Life is uncertain and yet it is also a great adventure. To live a life that I love requires skill and courage and this is often acquired through experience. And yet we all get stuck sometimes, perhaps we want to make changes, maybe a new job or career, or a new relationship, or perhaps we want to improve relationships with family, friends, or work colleagues. We all face loss in life, and this can sometimes be difficult for us to come to terms with. We can face the loss of a job or a loved one, a marriage might end, or we face aging or illness. We sometimes need support to help us navigate those tricky times in life, get us through to new phases, and reach our full potential for living.

Counselling and psychotherapy can provide the support needed to allow you to explore your full potential for living a life you love and designed by you. By helping you find the resources within yourself to resolve blocks to your potential such as working with anxiety, stress, depression, and problems with interpersonal relationships.

My qualification is an MSc in integrative counselling and psychotherapy awarded by UCC.

My journey towards counselling started when a professional therapist sat with me, simply stayed with me, whilst I worked through my own inner thoughts and difficult life experiences, listening attentively and trying to view the world as I see it. I found this to be a profound experience inspiring me to begin my training so that I might provide that support for others. I hope to be that support for you.

Originally from South Africa, where I graduated with an undergraduate degree in psychological counselling, I have additionally completed an Honors Degree in counselling and psychotherapy from P.C.I. College Ireland. I am delighted to continue my work at Peace Inside as a qualified Counsellor / Psychotherapist having completed my internship here.

Working mainly with a person centred approach, I now sit with clients as we explore their inner selves. Incorporating other modalities, such as cognitive behavioural therapy and providing psycho-education, I utilise a range of resources to support the client to meet their needs. I believe that taking time to build the therapeutic relationship is the most important aspect in counselling, ensuring a safe and non-judgmental environment from which a client can thrive.

We live in very challenging times and sometimes need somewhere to talk, and someone to listen and care. To be heard can be truly transformational and healing for someone, so providing a non-judgmental, safe space is imperative for the work.

I aim to provide support and care through your journey. I work holistically and I am a firm believer that the Body keeps the score. If we suppress how we truly feel, it can manifest in other ways in the body. Ideally, we want to operate from a centered place of truth, compassion and awareness, and I’m here to help you with that.

My approach is person-centered, and I firmly believe each of us has all the answers we need within ourselves, we just need help and support in getting there.

Whether you have experienced loss, depression, anxiety or maybe you are just curious to understand deeper your inner world and your behaviours. I aim to meet you wherever you are in life and to work at a pace that suits and serves you best.

The uncertainty of life is apparent in many ways.  Understanding ourselves, our thought patterns, our beliefs about the world and our deepest emotions or struggles can be a lot for one person. However, the support of having a dedicated and compassionate therapist is a hugely empowering concept. None of us are perfect. We are human beings, in search of understanding ourselves and the world in different or better ways.

I am deeply committed to working with my clients as we strive to understand what has led them to this point and work together to identify and implement the changes in their lives that create a more positive and optimistic future.

I am currently completing a Master’s in Counselling and Psychotherapy provided by ICHAS, having previously graduated from the University of Galway with a Degree in Psychology and Sociology. My therapeutic approach is Person Centred, while I also incorporate a range of theories including CBT. The hope I have for the people I work with is that they can step back and look at their experiences with a new & compassionate perspective which will lead them towards growth, healing and happiness.

Therapy is where you can explore aspects of yourself that you might never share with anyone else. A place to bring awareness to the parts of you that may no longer serve you. A space for reflection, personal growth and building new skills to manage life challenges. Therapy can be a powerful tool for transformation.

My approach to therapy emphasizes the importance of developing a collaborative and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship, helping clients identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviours, and building skills to manage stress and improve relationships with others.

I use a personalised approach that combines person-centred, cognitive-behaviour therapy, mindfulness-based techniques and other evidence-based strategies to support you on your journey.

I believe in the transformative power of therapy and if you’re ready to take the first step, I would be delighted to meet you.

There is an incredible power in being met by another human being just as you are. Without judgement or criticism but with acceptance and compassion. It is something quite healing and meaningful. My own experience of personal therapy has been utterly invaluable to me, providing me with the space to grow and heal.

I am in my third year of studying for an honours Degree in Holistic Counselling and Psychotherapy with the ICPPD College. As I have progressed through the course, I have been moved by the thoughts of what a privilege it is to help someone on their journey. It is an awareness that I bring to every client that I sit with.

My approach is humanistic, focusing on a person-centred model. This means that at the core of my work is a belief in the individual’s capacity to recover and thrive. My work is non-directive instead meeting each person, with empathy, as they are. I trust the process to empower the individual to connect with their own wisdom so that they might create a new supportive, nurturing relationship with themselves.

Sometimes we go through periods where life pushes us to move, and we feel as if we are losing ourselves in the changes taking place. The old and new versions of ourselves are in transition and we can feel disconnected from our core. You don’t have to go through this process on your own.

I support clients to reconnect with themselves and bring awareness to their process. I empower them to cope with their circumstances and increase their quality of life by facilitating them to relate better with themselves and with their environment (family, friends, work).

Every client is different, so even though my work is grounded in emotion-focused therapy and psychodynamic theory, my approach and techniques will depend on the needs of every client that will be discussed in our first session.

My background comes from the education sector as a social and community worker with social exclusion groups and humanitarian projects. I am currently completing a B.A. (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy at ICHAS

Although my studies and the beginning of my professional journey started in the area of finance, life and a financial crisis made me redefine my career options and plans. In 2012 I retrained in hotel and catering services focusing  in the tourism sector. I enjoyed being in such a diverse environment and playing an integral part in the plans of people as they marked significant occasions in their lives.

In 2019 I qualified from N.U.I.G. with M.Sc in Strategy , Innovation and People Management. In this course I grounded my experience of leadership, team work and strategy in advanced academic theory.

I am excited to bring my experience, skills and training to Peace Inside. I look forward to playing my part in establishing and growing a best-in-class counselling, psychotherapy and wellbeing service.
